For the first four (4) events played by a member on the CGC Tour, the player will be assigned a probationary CGC Tour Index.

 

This probationary index will be established based on the player’s Golf Canada record. If a player does not have a recent, valid, or representative Golf Canada record, the CGC Tour reserves the right to use the CGC Tour Index form, as well as any other relevant information, to establish a fair probationary index.

 

Once a player has completed their fourth (4th) event on the Tour, the CGC Tour Index will officially take over and will be used as the primary reference for subsequent events.

 

The CGC Tour Index will be calculated according to the following guidelines:

 

4 to 6 rounds played
The average of the two best rounds

 

7 to 8 last rounds played
The average of the three best rounds

CGC Tour Index Framework Based on the Golf Canada Record

 

In order to protect the fairness of the competition, the integrity of the standings, and the overall experience of all members, the CGC Tour Index remains governed by the player’s up-to-date Golf Canada record.

 

The following conditions apply:

 

Player with 1 to 6 completed rounds on the Tour since its creation, and who has not participated in at least 3 of the Tour’s last 5 events
The CGC Tour Index may not exceed the player’s current Golf Canada index by more than 2 strokes.

 

Player with 1 to 6 completed rounds on the Tour since its creation, and who has participated in at least 3 of the Tour’s last 5 events
The CGC Tour Index may not exceed the player’s current Golf Canada index by more than 3 strokes.

 

Player with 7 completed rounds or more on the Tour since its creation, and who has not participated in at least 3 of the Tour’s last 5 events
The CGC Tour Index may not exceed the player’s current Golf Canada index by more than 3 strokes.

 

Player with 7 completed rounds or more on the Tour since its creation, and who has participated in exactly 3 of the Tour’s last 5 events
The CGC Tour Index may not exceed the player’s current Golf Canada index by more than 4 strokes.

 

Player with 7 completed rounds or more on the Tour since its creation, and who has participated in at least 4 of the Tour’s last 5 events
No restriction based on the difference with the player’s Golf Canada index will apply. The player’s CGC Tour Index may be used as the primary reference, based on the player’s performances on the Tour.

 

These measures are intended to ensure that the CGC Tour Index reflects, as accurately as possible, a player’s true scoring potential, while taking into account their participation history, performances on the Tour, and current Golf Canada record.

 

The CGC Tour reserves the right to revise a player’s index at any time if the available information, recent performances, Golf Canada record, competition history, or any other relevant information indicates that the index being used does not accurately reflect the player’s true scoring potential.

Maximum Index for New Members

 

The maximum possible index is established according to the following guidelines:

 

First 3 rounds
Maximum Index of 16

 

4th and 5th rounds
Maximum Index of 18

 

6th to 8th rounds
Maximum Index of 20

 

9th round and beyond
No maximum.

 

However, for all members with a CGC Tour Index above 20, the average of the two best rounds will be used in order to ensure a more representative evaluation of the player’s true scoring potential.

Professional Players

 

Professional players who have played 10 rounds or more on the CGC Tour since 2022 and who have not participated in more than 2 events per year on professional tours other than the Quebec PGA circuit in 2023, 2024, and 2025 will be assigned their official Tour index.

 

Professional players who have played fewer than 10 rounds on the CGC Tour since 2022 and who have not participated in more than 2 events per year on professional tours other than the Quebec PGA in 2023, 2024, and 2025 will be assigned an automatic handicap of 0.
